SANCCOB, a leading marine conservation non-profit organisation, seeks to employ a
Receptionist at
SANCCOB Cape Town, situated in Table View, Cape Town.

The Receptionist will report to the Accountant of SANCCOB.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the switchboard and reception area so that it is welcoming, neat, and professional at all times.
  • Secretarial duties including the welcoming of guests, preparing for meetings, and taking minutes of meetings, if required.
  • Maintain and replenish office stock such as stationery, bathroom, and general supplies.
  • Assist with staff signing internal policy documents when required.
  • Assist with shop sales if required.
  • Assist with administration, filing, fundraising and adhoc duties.

Supporting the Procurement and Inventory officer as directed by the Accountant

  • Receiving of deliveries, stock takes, inventory variance reports.
  • Placing of orders, price checks, obtaining discounts and quotes
  • Receiving invoices and supporting documents
  • Ensure that all volunteers and interns meet SANCCOB's driving requirements.
  • Assist with basic bookkeeping duties including but not limited to receiving supplier statements and petty cash admin/control.

Assisting with management of the vehicle fleet and usage

  • Managing the vehicle usage according to a predetermined budget.
  • Coordinate volunteer drivers for collections.
  • Conduct weekly vehicle inspections and ensure that all company vehicles are well maintained.
  • Ensure that SANCCOB Gqeberha personnel and colony personnel submit vehicle checks.

Requirements:


  • Matric qualification: a tertiary qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in reception or similar position.
  • Valid Code 8 Drivers license
  • South African citizen or valid work permit/residency
  • Clear credit and criminal record (nonnegotiable)
  • Passion for seabirds and/or marine conservation, with a missiondriven work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Ability to manage the front desk, receiving visitors onsite and telephonic enquiries in a professional and pleasant manner, and represent the organisation with high standard.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small team but also to execute work independently and take the initiative when required.
  • Emotional intelligence, including strong interpersonal skills and selfawareness.
  • Deadline driven.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A strong command of English as a working language is essential.
