Position Overview:


To provide efficient and effective technical maintenance support to the school by ensuring that school facilities are taken care of by fixing, renewing, and rebuilding as per the maintenance tickets.

Provide ongoing and generic maintenance duties throughout the school.


Qualifications:


  • Grade 12 or N4 Technical qualification
  • Relevant Certificate in (basic plumbing, carpentry, and building repairs)
  • Basic computer certificate will be an added advantage
  • Driver's licence will be an added advantage

Preferred skills and experience:


  • 2 years' previous experience as a maintenance, grounds, and plumbing
  • Building, construction, and facilities experience obtained from a schooling environment will be an added advantage.
  • Extreme safe sensitivity and constant alertness.
  • Physical fitness to lift items and work on heights.
  • General understanding of various maintenance tools.
  • Ability to fix bathrooms, change and clean floor and wall tiles.
  • Basic painting, roofing, electrical, building, and construction skills.
  • Basic landscaping skills will be an added advantage.
  • Have good handeye coordination.
  • Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, and walk during the daily routine, with the ability to stand for long lengths of time.
  • Basic understanding of the Health & Safety Act and its requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Perform basic technical or handyman work such as basic plumbing, basic electrical assistance, and basic building, and equipment repairs.
  • Fix all facility technical deficiencies reported through the maintenance tickets.
  • Daily maintenance of bathrooms/classrooms/corridors and grounds.
  • Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.
  • Maintaining and upkeep of all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products.
  • Disposal of trash from bins transporting waste material to designated collection points.
  • Assist with any other duties as prescribed by the Supervisor / Manager.
  • Follow all rules relating to the Facilities Management system.
  • Attend ongoing maintenance of buildings and grounds as logged through the ticket.

School Hours:

This is a 45-hour per-week position and may be required to work longer hours from time to time.
