Quants Analyst:
Quantitative Support (Cape Town)


Company Overview:

An investment management firm is seeking a Quants Analyst to join their team for quantitative support. This role provides quantitative technical support across he business to ensure he consistent delivery of product to cliens.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Development and Desk Quantitative Technical Support
  • Collaboration with team on new projects, products, or processes.
  • Write production algorithms and automations that go into reports or business processes.
  • Build and maintain Financial Models and Reports
  • Responsible for designing, testing, and building financial models.
  • Assist with the design, testing and building of complex functions.
  • Performs scenario analysis and spreadsheet manipulation for clients.
  • Understands the fundamental theory behind these models.
  • Solves client analytics problems and communicates results and methodologies.
  • Creates and maintains various reports across the desks.
  • Understands the underlying methodologies and philosophies behind the data, math, and implementations.
  • Quantitative Technical Support
  • Assist to execute complex data queries from clients quickly and efficiently based on knowledge of what we have in the databases and how to manipulate it to deliver accurate data solutions to clients.
  • Assist to solves client analytics problems and communicates results and methodologies.
  • Data Analysis
  • Defines the validity of the information and works with the data steward to ensure that the information used follows the regulatory and security policies.
  • Understands market data and knows when to question the validity of information and queries with the JSE, Bloomberg or other service provider.
  • Presents and depicts the rationale of their findings in easytounderstand terms for business.
  • Troubleshoots and implements enhancements and fixes to systems as needed.
  • Conducts advanced data analysis and complex algorithms as needed.
  • Development Support
  • Collaborate with Development Team on new projects or troubleshooting maintenance reports.
  • Understand what data is available and relevant, including internal and external data sources.
  • Strategic Support
  • Ad-Hoc assistance to Management and Exco as required.
  • Maintain and support key client CRM systems as required, and maintain, support, and manage workflow via team roadmaps.
  • Support, execution of and presentation (when and if appropriate) of bespoke valueadded research to clients.

Required Experience:


  • 35 years + experience in a similar quantitative analytics position in financial services where you have gained a strong understanding of various asset classes.
  • Strong coding ability in SQL, R
  • VBA and Python advantageous
  • Excellent Excel skills

Required Qualifications:


  • Hons / Masters degree in a Quantitative Finance field
