    Logistics Manager Role

    The Logistics Manager oversees inbound and outbound operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.

    This individual must be hands-on, experienced, and able to work with various stakeholders, demonstrating strong communication skills.

    Key Responsibilities

    Inbound Logistics (Receiving)

    • Meet daily operational requirements in the Receiving department.
    • Ensure forklifts, OPXs, and articulated lift vehicles are operationally ready and compliant.
    • Schedule and track inbound containers from port to delivery point, ensuring timely arrivals.
    • Manage relationships with suppliers and identify potential alternatives based on performance and cost metrics.
    • Compile monthly reports detailing department activities, costs, and performance insights.

    Outbound Logistics (Despatch)

    • Meet daily operational requirements in the Despatch department.
    • Maintain processes for efficient shunting, staging, and loading of vehicles.
    • Coordinate between Operations and Despatch to meet delivery targets.
    • Oversee vehicle readiness and ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Maintain vehicle logbooks and daily checks.
    • Monitor debriefs and Proof of Delivery processes.
    • Manage ad-hoc vehicle usage requirements as needed.
    • Maintain supplier relationships and manage cost approvals through feedback meetings.
    • Identify new suppliers and manage cost approvals where necessary.
    • Compile monthly reports on department activities and costs.

    Requirements

    Experience & Skills

    • Proven logistics management experience, preferably in both Receiving and Despatch.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making ability.
    • Excellent communication skills – interacting with van assistants, operations teams, and directors.
    • Experience with supplier management and cost control.
    • Strong planning and organisational skills.
    • Proficiency in logistics tracking, reporting, and compliance requirements.

    • Practical and hands-on, willing to get involved.
    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
    • Proactive and solutions driven.
    • Adaptable and able to handle high-pressure environments.
