Qualifications:

  • Grade 1
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, law, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification in compliance or a relevant certification like Certified Compliance Professional is beneficial.
  • Thorough understanding of South African regulatory requirements and industry standards pertaining to retail operations
  • Analytical approach with the capability to interpret intricate data and recognize compliance risks and patterns.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, interacting effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the company

Experience:

  • Demonstrated background in compliance monitoring or auditing, ideally in the retail or consumer goods sector.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational proficiency, handling multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Proficient in utilizing relevant software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
  • Upholding integrity and ethical behavior, dedicated to maintaining top-tier compliance and corporate governance standards.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Establish and execute a compliance monitoring scheme to evaluate conformity to regulatory requirements, industry norms, and internal protocols.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations and audits of diverse business procedures, transactions, and operations to pinpoint potential compliance risks or shortcomings.
  • Scrutinize data and records to assess the efficiency of controls and procedures in position to alleviate compliance risks.
  • Discover trends, patterns, or irregularities in compliance-related data and communicate discoveries to management for remedial measures.
  • Cooperate with internal stakeholders such as compliance officers, legal advisors, and operational teams to handle identified concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Offer advice and assistance to business units on compliance-related topics, including conducting training sessions and workshops.
  • Stay updated on alterations in legislation, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure monitoring efforts are current and applicable.
  • Record monitoring activities, discoveries, and suggestions in coherent and concise reports for management and regulatory use.
  • Aid in addressing inquiries and requests from regulatory bodies concerning compliance monitoring operations.
  • Engage in cross-functional projects and endeavors targeted at enhancing compliance procedures and fostering a culture of integrity and responsibility within the organization.
