Senior Technical Buyer (EE)

Report to Purchasing Manager

Atlantis area

Criteria:


- 3-5 years of Buying experience in engineering industry (critical), dealing with foreign vendors and working with a Quality Management system (Critical)

- Qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain will be considered a distinct advantage.

- 4 years of experience working on SAP MM (Critical)

- Experience dealing with Suppliers & Service providers and dealing with clearing and forwarding agents (critical)

  • Impeccable attention to detail,
  • Strong verbal and communication skills,
  • Excellent analytical skill.
  • Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel skills

Daily functions::

Responsible for Purchasing materials, supplies and procurement of services at the most favorable terms for the organization.

Qualifying of vendors, evaluating bids, and negotiating prices and terms for purchased goods and services.

Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information.

  • Process purchasing requisitions into Purchase orders from the various departmental managers.
  • Evaluate Supplier and service providers and do the required followup.
  • Determine the financial provisions (cash dated etc) of product, service or raw materials which will be purchased and coordinate with finance department.
  • Monitoring price movements, changings and improving of all materials that is needed by plant in national and foreign markets.
  • Ensuring to promote the relations with suppliers, arranging periodical meetings, reporting the results to the supervisor
  • Ensure comparative chart is issued with each purchase order created for both Opex and Capex.
  • Informing the relative departments of delivery dates of goods, price offered ,approval of supplier and the monitoring of delivery dates.
  • Investigating any deviations where such has occurred due to price, legislation, procedures and rules.
  • Followup or expedite orders as necessary to meet production schedules
  • Negotiate with vendors of goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantees
  • Prepare purchase orders, place orders and mange all open purchase orders.
  • Ensure compliance to corporate procurement policy
  • Maintains procurement records for parts and services, reporting on items purchased, cost, delivery and inventories.
  • Manage and control RFQ's and RFI process with various departments and suppliers.
  • Evaluate all bids and awarding process for the respective commodities.
  • In conjunction with logistics depart. manage all MRP items including stock levels and deliveries.
  • Determine and identify the purchasing needs for the future. Analyse appropriate market conditions and cost benefit to the organization.
  • Ensure compliance to the BBBEE strategy and framework
