    Operational Execution Specialist

    This role is part of the multi-disciplinary Payment, Card and Product Backoffice Team.

    • Operational support for various payment streams:
    • Card Payments (Mastercard Bankserv)
    • EFT Payments (Bankserv, Bankserv Gateway and SAMOS)
    • RTC Payments (Bankserv, Bankserv Gateway and SAMOS)
    • High Value Payments (SAMOS and SWIFT Gateway)
    • Closed Loop Ecosystems
    • Value Added Services

    Responsibilities

    • Second-line support for customer queries related to payments, cards, and products.
    • Bank account reconciliations and resolution of unreconciled items.
    • Investigation and remediation of all internal and external payments.
    • Processing of internal and external payments.
    • Resolution of payment-related issues on behalf of customers and/or the bank.
    • Addressing IT alerts and system exception drivers, including communication of issues to the business.
    • Responding to card-related queries and resolving issues.
    • Providing product support regarding fees, interest, and rate calculations and exceptions.
    • Resolving payment, card, and product exceptions and disputes.
    • Identifying opportunities for new enhancements to improve and automate processes (including SOPs, UAT testing, and post-deployment checks).
    • Generating operational reports daily and monthly management reports.
    • Participating in internal and external audit reviews.
    • Troubleshooting and incident management resolution.
    • Supporting training for first-line customer service team members.
    • Ensuring operational processes and execution align with industry regulations.

    Requirements

    • Tertiary education in finance, business, science, or engineering (NQF7 or above).
    • At least 5 years' experience in payments-related roles.
    • Strong understanding of technology and commerce supporting payments, cards, and VAS.
    • In-depth knowledge of payment systems.

    Key Skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams.
    • Basic financial accounting and financial principles knowledge.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the payments industry, schemes, and regulations, particularly the National Payment System (NPS).

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate payment concepts into general business terms.
    • Demonstrate intense customer/seller focus, high integrity, intellectual honesty, and strong work ethic.

    • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
    • Adaptable to flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working setups.
    • Effective written, oral communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to express thoughts logically and demonstrate active listening skills.
    • Flexible and able to handle ambiguity and continuous change.
    • Precision-orientated to ensure financial processes are robust and compliant with risk requirements.
