    Cybersafety is now more important than ever. Emerald, a leading company based in Fourways, Johannesburg, is seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Head of Financial Reporting.

    The Ideal Candidate

    To be successful in this position, you will need to possess excellent financial reporting skills, including experience with IFRS and tax regulations. You should also have strong technical skills in short term insurance and reinsurance accounting.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Financial Reporting: Oversee the production of financial reports, financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
    • Tax and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, and oversee external and internal auditors.
    • Reinsurance Accounting: Review reinsurance credit control and reconcile IFRS 4 vs IFRS 17 results.
    • VAT and Income Tax Payment Processes: Oversee the VAT and income tax payment processes.
    • Management Accounts: Prepare monthly management accounts for presentation to the Executive Committee.
    • Group Reporting: Review the group reporting financial pack.
    • Project Management: Oversee group and internal projects.
    • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and maintain budgets and quarterly forecasts.
    • Banking and Investments: Authorize payments and manage investments.
    • Peer Review: Conduct internal review of underwriting, claims, and SASRIA matters.
    • Team Leadership: Lead, guide, and develop the finance team in an inspiring environment.

    Requirements

    • Educational Qualifications: Relevant bachelor's degree and post-graduate qualification.
    • Work Experience: Minimum 10 years of working experience.
    • Skills and Competencies: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong organizational and project management skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
