Introduction
Our manufacturing client based in Durban is looking for a Buying Manager to join their supply chain team.

Duties & Responsibilities
Daily purchasing (fast paced environment).
Developing and implementing buying strategies.
Managing daily buying activities, supervising staff, and allocating tasks.
Negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc.
Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation. Coordinating with the Stores to determine and manage inventory needs.
Ensuring raw materials are available as per production requirements. Ensuring that all bought items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
Preparing cost estimates and managing budgets.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Degree in supply chain or a related field. At least 3 -5 years' experience in a similar role. Experience with direct buying in a manufacturing environment.
Experience working on ERP software e.g., SAP, Syspro, JD Edwards etc.
Supervisory and management experience - must have proven experience of managing Buyers and Expeditors.
Possess strong knowledge of inventory and supply chain management. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
Strong planning and organisational skills.
