The Technical author forms part of the Technical Authoring team and is expected to translate complex data into user-friendly text for various audiences.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Deliverables include print and electronic publications, such as technical manuals, and the SYSPRO Help websites;
  • Required to gather information through research, statistical reports, and interviews with technical staff.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:


Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum: Senior Certificate or NQF4 equivalent;
-
Preferable: Degree / Diploma in journalism or communication or related field;

  • Proven track record that reflects a passion for writing;
  • 5 years' experience in a technical writing environment;
  • Understanding of single sourced authoring;

Beneficial: Web or graphic design experience;

  • Understanding of distribution, manufacturing or finance industry;
  • Good business acumen;
  • Ability to work with authoring software packages (such as HTML, Madcap Flare, XML, CSS, etc.);

Knowledge & Skills:


  • Web or graphic design knowledge;
  • Ability to work with authoring software packages (such as HTML, Madcap Flare, XML, CSS, etc.);
  • Writing skills;
  • Research capability;
  • Administration Skills;
  • Style: Layout, design and format capability;
