A property management company seeks to employ a Handyman to join their team.

The purpose of the role is to ensure the effective maintenance of the company's property developments, considering all company requirements for health and hygiene by attending to all minor plumbing and maintenance tasks.


Minimum Requirements:


  • Matric / Grade 1
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Experience in a technical/building maintenance field
  • 3+ years' experience in the plumbing field (nonnegotiable)
  • MS Office experience, with Excel
  • MDA Software experience advantageous

Responsibilities:


Maintenance:


  • Inspect units and buildings where required
  • Identify any defects and the repairs and resources required to eliminate these defects
  • Action maintenance requirements as identified by job cards
  • Complete job cards indicating resources used, costs incurred and cost allocation
  • Attend to maintenance/handyman duties around complexes
  • Assist with the overall maintenance review of buildings
  • Address maintenance requirements as identified by tenants
  • Identify Plumbing maintenance required
  • Execute required refurbishment work as required during mutations.

Staff Management:


  • Oversee and manage staff and resource functions with regards to daily activities and requirements
  • Manage staff's work allocation, performance and development in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the Portfolio Administrator & Facilities Coordinator conducts an analysis of processes carried out and feedback received on a monthly basis.

Financial and Management Support:


  • Oversee and/or assist with the management of assigned long term projects/budgets
  • Address maintenance requirements with contractors where necessary
  • Process casual workers' wages.

Stock Control:


  • Keeping record of stock used while performing maintenance tasks
  • Provide material list of required stock.
  • Maintain tools and equipment
  • Ensure vehicle and stock cupboards/stores are neat and tidy

Quality Compliance:


  • Comply with Quality requirements as outlined by the company Procedures and Written Instructions in all tasks and activities
  • Ensure that the required procedures and Quality standards are adhered to
  • Ensure high quality standards of work are adhered to at all times
  • Complete all documentation timeously and accurately

Health and Safety:


  • Carry out any duty or requirement imposed on the company by the OHS Act
  • Ensure that the requirements of the OHS Act are complied with by every person under your supervision
  • Ensure that reasonably practicable steps are taken to identify, manage or eliminate any hazards or potential hazards to the safety or health of employees
  • Report any unsafe or unhealthy situations to the Managing Director

General:


  • Oversee and manage staff and resource functions with regards to daily activities and requirements
  • Manage staff's work allocation, performance and development in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the Portfolio Administrator & Facilities Coordinator conducts an analysis of processes carried out and feedback received on a monthly basis.
