Description
A global manufacturing organisation is wishing to appoint a Quality Controller.


PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Identification, analysis, resolution and reporting of quality failures in production and suppler defects. Ensuring adherence to quality control processes and systems.


RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • To ensure that all requirements as per ISO 9001 and 14000 systems as documented are adhered to in all areas of production.
  • Assistance in analysing and reporting of nonconformance reported.
  • Conducting Process capability studies on tools and machines where and when required.
  • Manage technical drawings used on the production floor.
  • Assist operators with the setting and calibration of machines such that quality production is achieved.
  • Ensure that all components manufactured adhere to dimensional and other quality requirements reflected by drawings.
  • Ensure that first offs and intermittent QC checks are done by all production staff and verify that quality and accuracy is achieve consistently.
  • Stop the production process when quality requirements are not met, using the correct LINE STOP documentation.
  • Ensure that measuring equipment on the production floor is calibrated and that auditable records are kept.
  • Issue nonconformance reports when failure to adhere to quality requirement are discovered.
  • Offer guidance on the introduction and use of Poke Yoke Gauging.
  • Assist the QM with the inhouse audits (with assistance of Roodepoort audit teams) of Process and System as detailed in the MSM. Also, to accompany AUDITORS during the ISO 9000 audits.
  • Assist with QA function during New Product Development meetings on site.
  • Represent QA in departmental during Quality Review meetings.
  • Ensure that all scrap produced is recorded and declared to the QM.
  • Participation on the VAVE process.

  • SPC or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Machine setting and operation.
  • QC related data capture and report

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Mechanical Eng diploma / Qualified Fitter & Turner or Toolmaker (Mechanical / functional focus)
  • Exposure to / working knowledge of ISO 9001 standard.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years quality control in mechanical / metal industry
