SENIOR FRONT OF HOUSE WAITER - BENGUELA COVE LAGOON WINE ESTATE

Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate, nestled in the heart of Walker Bay's stunning wine country, is seeking exceptional Front of House Waiters to join our award-winning hospitality team. We're not looking for ordinary waitstaff – we're searching for hospitality professionals who understand that exceptional service is an art form. 

WHAT WE OFFER 

Compensation Package: 

Base Salary: R8,000 per month (significantly above minimum wage) 

Plus gratuities (tips shared among team)

For candidates from outside Hermanus: We welcome applications from other provinces and will consider relocation of candidates who demonstrate exceptional skills and commitment. You must be able to secure your own accommodation in Hermanus before commencing employment. 

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR 

This role is for individuals who take immense pride in their work and understand that every guest interaction is an opportunity to create a memorable experience. You must have: 

Essential Requirements: 

Minimum 2 years' experience in upscale restaurants, hotels, or wine estates 

Impeccable presentation and professional demeanor 

Outstanding communication skills in English (additional languages advantageous) 

Wine knowledge or genuine eagerness to learn (training provided) 

Valid driver's license (essential - you must be mobile and reliable) 

Own reliable transport preferred 

Ability to secure accommodation in Hermanus (non-negotiable - daily commuting from distant locations is not feasible) 

Flexibility to work shifts including weekends, evenings, and public holidays 

Legal right to work in South Africa 

Personal Attributes: 

Natural warmth and genuine hospitality mindset 

Meticulous attention to detail 

Ability to anticipate guest needs before they're expressed 

Professional under pressure during high-volume service 

Team player with strong work ethic 

Pride in personal appearance and workspace 

Proactive problem-solver 

Self-sufficient and able to manage relocation independently 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES 

Guest Experience Excellence: 

Deliver exceptional, personalized service to international and local guests 

Provide knowledgeable recommendations on our wine portfolio and menu offerings 

Create memorable dining experiences that reflect our luxury positioning 

Handle guest requests and special requirements with grace and efficiency 

Operational Excellence: 

Maintain impeccable service standards across all dining venues 

Execute flawless table service in line with fine dining protocols 

Ensure dining areas are immaculately presented at all times 

Support private events, functions, and wine tastings as  

Work collaboratively with kitchen and bar teams 

Professional Standards: 

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of our wines, food menu, and estate offerings 

Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations 

Represent the Benguela Cove brand with pride and professionalism 

Participate in ongoing training and development programs

RELOCATION CONSIDERATIONS 

For out-of-area applicants: Hermanus offers excellent quality of life with stunning natural beauty, outdoor activities, and a vibrant community. Accommodation options range from shared houses to rental apartments. We recommend securing accommodation before your start date. While we do not provide accommodation assistance, the increased base salary of R8,000 is designed to support professionals relocating to join our team.
