    Lead Medical Practitioner Emergency Department

    A critical leadership position is available for a Lead Medical Practitioner to oversee the operations of Life Suikerbosrand Hospital's Emergency Unit.

    Critical Outputs and Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement strategic plans for the Emergency Department.
    • Provide clinical and administrative management of patients with diverse medical needs, including surgical, obstetric, pediatric cases, and others.
    • Foster a high-performing clinical team through continuous development, establishment of operational protocols, and quality standard improvement initiatives.
    • Effectively allocate resources to maximize productivity and outputs.
    • Maintain strong relationships with referring General Practitioners, Specialists, and external partners such as Pathologists and Radiologists.
    • Participate in emergency drills and respond to crisis situations within the hospital.
    • Ensure exceptional collaboration with the hospital team to optimize productivity and outcomes.
    • Promote the hospital through community and marketing events.

    Requirements

    • Hold an MBChB qualification or equivalent, registered with the HPCSA.
    • Possess certifications in ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and level one ultrasound.
    • A completed MMed Emergency Medicine or Dip PEC(SA) would be advantageous.
    • Registration as an emergency medicine specialist with FCEM (SA) or equivalent would be highly beneficial.
    • Demonstrate at least 3 years of experience in Emergency Medicine, with 1-2 years of management experience.
    • Showcase relevant experience within Emergency units, which is essential.
