    Financial Manager Job Overview

    The Financial Manager oversees the management of financial staff nationwide and is responsible for compiling accurate and reliable management accounts. This role aims to manage the company's financial health by monitoring cash flow and optimizing profitability factors, including costs, pricing, volumes, and product mix shifts.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Management

    1. Balances daily: Verify that all bank accounts are balanced.
    2. Petty Cash Handling: Capture payments on a monthly basis.
    3. Cash Flow Management: Plan daily and update actual cash flow.
    4. Interest Calculations: Process month-end journals for interest income and interest paid.
    5. Credit Card Capturing: Manage credit card accounts.
    6. Agent Commission: Calculate agent commissions on sales and make payments.
    7. Sample and Damaged Stock Processing: Process journals for samples and damaged stock for the month.
    8. Asset Depreciation: Depreciate assets monthly. Manage insurance claims/queries, obtain approval, and make required payments nationally.
    9. Fixed Asset Management: Maintain fixed assets for ACS and manage rental agreements, payments, and updates.
    10. Year-End Reporting: Complete year-end reporting by 15 March for submission to auditors.
    11. Audit Support: Assist with annual audit.

    Debtors Management

    1. Daily Receipts: Manage bank capturing of receipts daily and petty cash receipts monthly.
    2. Receipt Allocation: Manage allocation of receipts to debtor accounts.
    3. Debt Collection: Manage collection of debts outstanding.
    4. Export Procedures: Manage export procedures.

    Creditors Management

    1. Purchase Order Conversion: Convert purchase orders into supplier invoices.
    2. Expense Reconciliation: Reconcile direct expenses and creditors.
    3. Creditor Payments: Submit payment list of creditors and make payments when approved.
    4. Purchase Order Management: Manage purchase orders on SmartEdge; re-date or delete unused POs for next month.
    5. Foreign Creditor Management: Manage foreign creditors' accounts and freight invoices – capturing and payment.

    Payroll Management

    1. Payroll Management: Manage payroll.
    2. Payroll Verification: Check payroll before approval.
    3. Payment Loading: Load all payments (salary related).

    Legislation Administration

    1. VAT Return Filing: Compile VAT return monthly filed on e-filing.
    2. VAT Reviews/Audits: Conduct VAT reviews or audits.
    3. EMP201 Submissions: Submit EMP201 monthly filed on e-filing and paid.
    4. EMP501 Submissions: Arrange submission and IRP5 to staff.
    5. Workmen's Compensation: Submit workmen's compensation submissions (June yearly).
    6. STATS SA Submissions: Submit STATS SA submissions.
    7. EEA/BBEEE Submissions: Submit EEA/BBEEE submissions.

    Fixed Assets over R8000

    1. New Fixed Asset Creation: Open new fixed assets.
    2. Asset Entry: Enter new assets.
    3. Depreciation: Perform depreciation.
    4. Asset Disposal: Dispose of assets if and when required.

    Desired Experience and Qualifications

    Specialist Requirements

    1. Management Account Compilation: Compiling and interpreting management accounts.
    2. Computerized Accounting: 5 years of experience in computerized accounting.
    3. System-driven Expertise: Creating and maintaining system-driven solutions.
    4. Technical Skills: Strong technical skills – proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
    5. Leadership and Motivation: Self-motivation, ambition, good leadership skills, time management, and prioritization skills.
    6. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
