Situated in the heart of Stellenbosch, this trendy cafe is seeking an energetic, experienced Assistant Manager/ Supervisor to join the team.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manage and oversee the daytoday operation, takeaway counter, freshly baked processes, Uber Eats and takeaway deliveries.
  • Deliver & maintain excellent customer service
  • Respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints
  • Ensuring compliance with hygiene, health & safety legislation/guidelines
  • Ensuring adequate processes are followed to add value to the customer experience, ie: ensuring cleaning is done adequately, condiments area is filled/cleaned, client areas cleaned after leaving and adequate rotation of requirement, displays are filled and fresh, products are in line with the requirements of the business and head office requirements
  • Manage staff rostering, while ensuring the business meets the KPI's
  • Manage the labour wage cost and ensure it meets requirements as per guidelines from seniors.
  • Staff management hiring, training, performance evaluations
  • Stock control of restaurant inventory and equipment, ensuring variances are in line with theoretical requirements.
  • Manage and control costs of the business, this includes stock, labour costs, overtime, and any related expenses.
  • Management of the Point of Sale system, by ensuring all aspects are correctly managed, including staff access, required access levels, monitoring variances, staff overrings and discounts.
  • Managing budgets, cost control, assessing and improving profitability (Keep food wastage in line with requirements and adequate planning for these processes), ensuring accuracy of portioning and relevant controls
  • Perform daily cashups
  • Work within the restaurant trading hours: Mon-Fri 06:0017:00, Sat 06:0015:00 Sun 06:0014:00, opening or closing the restaurant and also be on duty for busy shifts & weekends (Must be available over weekends & Public holidays)

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Matric / Grade 12 certificate
  • Tertiary qualification in food and beverage management/hospitality management (advantageous)
  • At least 2 years of restaurant/front of house management experience
  • Own reliable transport or able to get to work in the event of strikes.
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software


  • Be computer literate

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Be honest and trustworthy
  • Have experience in basic accounting, cashups, stock control and handling of cash
  • Excellent communication skills in Afrikaans and English
  • Strong supervisory, motivational and people skills
  • Decisionmaking & problemsolving skills
  • Selfmotivated
  • Good timemanagement skills
  • Preferably reside in the surrounding area of Stellenbosch
