    Regional Development Manager - Inland

    Our client seeks an experienced and strategic Regional Development Manager to lead business development efforts, drive sales growth, and strengthen client relationships across key industrial sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding the company's market presence in the water, waste, and energy industries within the inland region.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Strategic Business Development: Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with company objectives, ensuring a strong market presence in the inland region.
    • Sales Growth: Lead the annual sales budgeting process and exceed defined targets within the inland region through effective sales strategies and tactics.
    • Clinet Relationship Management: Identify and pursue new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring long-term partnerships and loyalty.
    • Market Engagement: Optimize bookings and sales for the inland region through strategic market engagement, industry conferences, seminars, and networking events.
    • Brand Awareness: Represent the company at industry events, promoting brand awareness and establishing the company as a thought leader in the sector.
    • Market Intelligence: Provide regular market intelligence, feedback, and reports to senior management, informing business decisions and driving growth.
    • Tendering Process: Oversee and coordinate the tendering process for large-scale contracts in municipal and industrial sectors, ensuring successful outcomes and profitable partnerships.
    • Team Leadership: Support and direct teams in business development, marketing, and communications, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
    • Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal processes and external regulatory requirements, upholding the company's standards and reputation.
    • Negotiations: Lead negotiations and ensure commercially beneficial agreements with key stakeholders, maximizing returns on investment and driving business growth.
    • Proposal Development: Guide and support teams in compiling and submitting proposals for public-private partnerships (PPPs), securing lucrative contracts and partnerships.

    Essential Skills and Qualifications

    • Business Acumen: Strong business development and sales acumen within industrial sectors, with a deep understanding of the water, waste, and energy markets.
    • Negotiation and Communication: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders and building strong relationships.
    • Financial Management: Sound financial and business acumen, including experience with P&Ls and project profitability assessments, ensuring informed decision-making.
    • Leadership: Strategic planning and leadership abilities to drive regional growth, motivate teams, and achieve business objectives.
    • Analytical and Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, allowing for effective market analysis, trend identification, and solution implementation.
    • Interpersonal and Stakeholder Management: Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including government and corporate clients, building trust and securing mutually beneficial partnerships.
    • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Google Workspace tools and cloud-based systems, ensuring seamless collaboration and efficient workflow.
    • Experience: 10 to 15 years of business development or sales experience in industrial chemicals, energy services, or projects, with extensive knowledge of B2B sales in utilities.
    • Industry Knowledge: Proven track record of building and maintaining high-level client relationships in Southern Africa, with a deep understanding of local markets and regulations.
    • Personal Qualities: Self-motivated, dynamic professional with a passion for business development and marketing, driven by a desire for excellence and continuous improvement.
    • Education: Preferably a B.Eng., MBA, or BCom in Sales & Marketing or an equivalent qualification, demonstrating a solid foundation in business principles and practices.
