    Job Title: Bookkeeper

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial transactions of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant billing procedures.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Financial Transactions: Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
    • Transaction Verification: Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct day book, suppliers ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger.
    • Trial Balance: Bring the books to the trial balance stage.
    • Posting Process: Perform partial checks of the posting process.
    • Data Entry and Reporting: Enter data, maintain records, and create reports and financial statements.
    • Compliance and Discrepancies: Ensure compliance with relevant billing procedures and resolve discrepancies.
    • Customer Communication: Establish and maintain effective communication with customers regarding billing inquiries and payment processing.
    • Customer Queries: Address customer queries and provide necessary information.
    • Administrative Tasks: Undertake general administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the accounting department.
    • Filing Systems: Maintain organised and systematic filing systems for financial records.
    • Collaboration: Collaborate with the accounting team to facilitate month-end and year-end closing procedures.

    Requirements:

    • Experience: Have a minimum of 3 years practical experience in a similar role.
    • Qualifications: National senior certificate.
    • Education: Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field would be advantageous.
    • Driver's License: Valid driver's license.
    • Software Skills: Previous experience with Pastel accounting & Sage online software is desirable.
    • Microsoft Office: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
    • Accounting Principles: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of fundamental accounting principles and procedures.
    • Recording Financial Transactions: Apply knowledge to accurately record financial transactions and maintain financial integrity.
    • Tool Proficiency: Ability to use these tools for various accounting and administrative tasks.
    • Communication Skills: Showcase familiarity with day-to-day accounting responsibilities.
    • Organisational Skills: Exhibit strong communication skills in conveying financial information and interacting with colleagues and clients.
    • Attention to Detail: Showcase exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail in handling administrative tasks.
    • Responsibility Management: Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.

    Working Conditions:

    • Location: George, Western Cape.
    • Language: English (required), Afrikaans (required).
