Applications are invited for an Assistant Installation Technician position to be based in Somerset West.


PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:


The Assistant Installation Technician's main duty will be to assist with installations and repairs on Wireless and Fibre networks, along with site surveys.

This position's duties include, but are not limited to:

General:

  • Adhere to company operation and installation procedures and uphold company standards.
  • Work closely with both Team Leader and Scheduler.
  • Accurate reporting and updates on work completed.
  • Stock control for scheduled jobs.
  • Keep tools and equipment well maintained.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures.
  • Fibre Troubleshooting assistance
  • Wireless Troubleshooting: Signal testing on CPE's, access points and bandwidth capacity.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required.
  • Working at heights: House roofs, towers or large buildings.
  • Working in crawl and small spaces for installation purposes.

Installation:

  • Installation of Fibre and Wireless CPE's.
  • Network or fibre cable runs internal and external.
  • Basic access point and router setups.
  • On site installation quality control.
  • Complete installation and client signoff.

Callout Repairs:

  • Confirm issues with client as described on ticket.
  • Troubleshoot quickly and efficiently.
  • Identify problems and determine solutions.
  • Communicate cost implications involved with the repair if required.
  • Maintain products and pricing options knowledge.
  • Able to resolve the issue on site or replace the necessary equipment.
  • Client signoff and administrative report back.
  • Wireless and fibre industry experience advantagous.
  • Knowledge around network structures, crimping.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Basic Networking considered an asset.
  • Technical and work at heights training an asset.
  • Driver's license with clean driving record essential.
  • Good analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Effective planning skills.
  • Good working knowledge of hand and power tools used in this position.
  • Strong manual dexterity and handeye coordination.
  • Ability to work neatly and accurately.
  • Technically minded.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment including, but is not limited to: carry, raise and climb a ladder, carry, lift and handle heavy equipment (manhole covers, cable reels).
  • Selfdisciplined, motivated and organised.
  • Medically fit & able to work at heights.

Education Requirements:

  • Grade 1
  • Specialized certifications would be an advantage.
