    Position Summary

    • Candidate should have extensive work experience in the field of Environmental, sustainability and climate change with participation in project executions.
    • Familiarity with Climate Change Policies, reporting standards, GHG Protocol, UNFCCC guidance and IPCC Guidelines is essential.
    • The GHG Verifier will report to the Climate Change Business Head, with cross-functional collaboration with the VVB (Validation & Verification Bodies).
    • This role focuses on South Africa & Sub-Sahara Africa, involving virtual and on-site verification audits, carbon accounting, emissions reduction strategy development, setting net zero targets, and providing GHG training as required.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills are necessary for liaison and coordination with Govt., Private, and Investment clients.
    • A qualified auditor with any accreditation/certification scheme like GHG, ISO 14065, ISO 14067, CDM, etc. is preferred.

    Responsibilities and Authorities

    • Review documentation to provide feedback to the VVB, establishing an accurate audit plan and report timelines.
    • Perform greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions verifications for clients through on-site and off-site audits of operations, processes, and documentation, working independently or leading a team.
    • Respond promptly to VVB and Project Developers queries regarding V&V reviews.
    • Draft relevant documentation outlining the outcomes of V&V projects.
    • Maintain records and documentation of audits to ensure continuation of ISO 14065 accreditation or others.
    • Assist or deliver public and private greenhouse gas (GHG) trainings for clients.
    • Support sales team in preparation of project proposals.
    • Execute projects with expected results, prepare final reports, and represent the team.
    • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including project developers, team members, technical experts, etc.
    • Support the business head in preparing relevant reports, such as pipeline updates as required.
    • Participate in key client meetings as a technical expert.

    Education and Experience

    • A minimum of a University degree or equivalent in engineering, natural science, or a related discipline.
    • At least 3+ years of professional work experience.
    • Prioritized consideration will be given to candidates with professional qualifications or experience in GHG audit work.

    Location

    • The candidate can work from either Johannesburg or Cape Town.
