    Description

    Primary Objective

    The primary purpose of this role is to manage and control the overall sales & relationship function within the Acquiring/Merchant Services business unit. This includes managing customer, vendor, and partner relationships in accordance with applicable legislation and internal policies and procedures.

    The objective is to provide a targeted customer base with product solutions that increase the company's bottom-line profit. This involves managing a team of sales specialists and admin support to proactively deliver on set sales targets and control related product and operational risks.

    To be successful in this role, you will need to develop and manage budgets and forecasts for the sales & relationship function. You will also need to implement strategies to increase sales and revenue, while controlling costs and income in line with departmental and bank budget expectations.

    You will be responsible for interpreting business/customer requirements and addressing customer queries and challenges to provide timely solutions. You will also need to grow and manage the existing customer base by identifying opportunities to offer diversified products, upselling and cross-selling different options that add value to the client.

    In addition, you will need to ensure excellent service levels and quality to customers to retain them as clients and build long-term working relationships.

    This role requires strong leadership skills, including monitoring and managing the deliverables, output, and performance of subordinates within the sales teams. You will also need to develop talent by facilitating cross-training, developing, coaching, mentoring, and growing individuals and teams within the acquiring environment.

    Key Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Degree and/or Diploma in a Business-related field
    • RE5 qualification will be an advantage

    Experience

    • 5 - 8 years' experience in the payments and/or banking industry, preferably with acquiring, card, and/or merchant experience
    • Payments knowledge both within the issuing and acquiring environments
    • Customer-focused understanding of sales dynamics and targets
    • Knowledge of Visa & MasterCard settlement & payment processes

    Financial Management

    • Implement strategic initiatives to increase sales and revenue
    • Develop and manage budgets and forecasts for the sales & relationship function
    • Manage and control costs and income in line with departmental and bank budget expectations
    • Ensure the function achieves sales targets through strategically selling and cross-selling merchant acquiring solutions

    Stakeholder Management

    • Interpret business/customer requirements and address customer queries and challenges
    • Grow and manage the existing customer base through identifying opportunities to offer diversified products
    • Ensure excellent service levels and quality to customers

    Operational Excellence

    • Ensure all statutory and business reporting are executed on time
    • Challenge operations and maintenance departments to reduce rates

    People Leadership

    • Monitor and manage the deliverables, output, and performance of subordinates
    • Develop talent by facilitating cross-training and coaching
    • Encourage career advancement
