    Description

    Mimecast is seeking an experienced transformational VP Sales for Africa to serve as a key member and business leader within the EMEA Revenue Leadership team. The VP Sales will serve as an influential executive, who will transform business outcomes and Mimecast's company culture by leading a retention and growth focused, world-class, Sub-Saharan African revenue organization. While revenue and go-to-market are the priority, they will be the most senior leader for the South African site in Mimecast, and therefore must act as the site leader and broader executive day-to-day.

    This individual will be responsible for driving growth both with the in the existing mid-market segment, as well as supporting the global organization in its shift into enterprise-class customer whilst protecting and growing the existing customer base in Africa.

    The VP will have a proven track record of understanding company strategy and defining integrated ways to grow revenues in the Africa theatre region, ideally with a domain focus on cybersecurity and/or data protection. The company's channel focus is essential to their growth strategy, and they are seeking a leader who understands the broader partner landscape, scaling revenues though key channel partnerships, as well as the establishment of relationships with ISVs, Cloud Partners, and GSIs.

    This leader must bring the growth mindset and strategic ability to keep building and scaling the organization at pace, with a hands on and entrepreneurial approach, leading the sales engine on the ground, driving cadence and sales discipline.

    This position reports to the SVP Sales EMEA.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead Mimecast's business growth in Africa, building on existing presence Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly South African Commercial and Public Sector
    • Provide strategic and operational direction to the RSA sales organization to meet corporate objectives and maximize sales revenue through direct and indirect sales.
    • Create and drive new strategic go-to-market plans to meet our company growth, market expansion opportunities and market-share goals for the region.
    • Act as a strategic thought leader, advisor and partner to the SVP EMEA and the broader senior leadership team in Mimecast.
    • Act as a change ambassador for global, EMEA and local business drivers and initiatives.
    • Develop depth and discipline in operational cadence, creating a culture of support and coaching for the sales team, balanced with 'an all hands on' approach to opportunities.
    • Develop consistency and discipline in the leading indicators of success across the organization including robust pipeline management, efficiency and performance metrics.
    • Assess current sales and services methodologies and team structures to implement necessary adjustments that optimize performance and build the infrastructure and incentives to facilitate growth.
    • Proactively share and seek best practices from leaders across the global sales organization.
    • Work closely with functions across the organization to establish and develop a strong and collaborative partnership to ensure continued success.
    • Recruit, lead, mentor and motivate the sales organization to understand our company strategy and drivers, and to capitalize on opportunities for Mimecast

    Essential Skills and Experience

    The ideal candidate will be an inspirational hands-on, highly qualitative, metrics driven sales leader with a successful track record of success.

    Specifically, the candidate will have the following experience:

    Sales Leadership Experience

    • 10+ years of sales leadership and relevant client facing experience managing an enterprise recurring revenue software/cloud business.
    • Both Private and South African Public Sector sales experience is essential.
    • Channel sales experience is preferred.

    Team Building & Leadership

    • Ability to drive a best in class organization, leading with inspiration, managing with operational excellence, and create a coaching culture for sales growth.
    • Proven track record of managing diverse and cross-functional team members.
    • Demonstrated success of managing complex, multi-level sales teams.
    • Ability to scale a sales organization in a high-growth organization with a strong focus on customer retention and satisfaction.

    Regional Leadership

    • Experience Leading Cross-functional leaders who are capable of bringing Functional as well as Global context to a demographically diverse region, ultimately aimed at maintaining high levels of employee engagement and performance standards.
    • General management experience focused on employee experience, employee development and collaboration across a highly matrixed Global & Functionally lead organization is essential.

    Security Experience

    • Deep and relevant knowledge of infrastructure software and experience selling into the technical side of an organization.
    • Strong network and a trusted advisor with key clients and decision makers within the cybersecurity sector preferred.

    Scale & High Growth

    • Demonstrated history of leading businesses of significant scale through periods of high growth.
    • Track record of driving organic growth via net new enterprise logos, renewals, client expansion.
    • Proven track record of leading high-performance enterprise sales teams.

    Operational Excellence

    • Proven ability to develop and implement metrics-driven, process-based best practices and methodologies that result in repeatable and scalable success.
    • Action-oriented leader with very strong analytical and financial acumen.
