Position Summary:

Accountable for reducing failures on product quality and responsible for improving quality of product.


Key Performance Areas:


  • Quality Supervision to ensure all quality control checks and processes are adhered to, to reduce failures on product quality and customer complaints
  • Ensuring that customers receive the highest quality product
  • Ensuring optimum efficiency of equipment and production
  • Management of Quality Controllers during their respective shift pattern
  • Ensure that all in process test data is managed and retained for adequate traceability.

Quality Supervision

  • Implement, train and audit corrective actions on plant QC processes and quality criteria with shift management and staff, to reduce failures on product quality.
  • Daily reporting on all findings and recommendations to the Quality and Systems Manager, Production Manager.
  • Supervising quality on a shift, conducting shift inspections and overseeing the Quality Controllers
  • In collaboration with the Quality Controllers, make decisions about the acceptance or rejection of a product.
  • Ensure that the correct process checks are performed to ensure uniformity, quality and accuracy and reviewing and checking results of these tests accordingly.
  • Write up a shift report to send at the end of each shift documenting quality and/or process issues.
  • Alert Shift Supervisors when nonconforming product is detected and ensure necessary steps are followed accordingly.
  • Oversee all approvals and clearances with regards to start up and shift handover
  • Check and file all QC and production working documents
  • Ensure QC documents are fully completed, kept up to date and made available for Inspections as required
  • Ensure QC equipment is kept in a good state of repair, maintain a register, and report any equipment needing repair.
  • Monitor movement of rejected material and maintain records for how it is utilised.
  • Identification of raw materials that require rejecting.
  • Management and record keeping analysis reports of finished good.
  • Oversee the production process as follows:
  • Ensure the mixing instructions are being followed as per the Bill of materials (BOM)
  • Ensure the correct raw materials are being utilized.
  • Ensure correct temperatures on the machines are set as per the BOM.
  • Ensure the machines are running as per the set short interval controls (SICS) in terms of temperatures, speeds and outputs
  • Ensure that QC check the first mix for all runs and that all relevant information is being recorded.
  • Ensure that all QC tests are being conducted as per the procedure.
  • Ensure small packs are being weighed correctly and that batch control procedures are being adhered to.

Assisting with Customers and Complaints

  • Ensure that quality standards and specifications of the clients are met regarding the finished goods samples.
  • Investigating the cause of materials faults, working with production to correct the faults and retesting the goods for quality
  • Support production quality processes, including but not limited to change control, data analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in non conformance investigations related to manufacturing, testing and control systems.
  • Support customer complaint investigations where required

Quality Control Processes

  • Assisting Technical and Quality Managers with internal audits as required
  • Lead improvement projects to completion that may be initiated from non conformance, internal audits, and site or department goals.
  • Provide Technical support during customer audits.
  • Occasional activities will include supporting training management, internal audit and document control activities in our drive for continual improvement.
  • Perform quality reviews for calibration and validation to ensure compliance.

Training

  • Internal practical training of Quality Controllers
  • Identify and assist with training needs for Quality Controllers

General
