Position Summary

Driver-Supervisor primary function is to supervise day to day garden service works at various customer houses/sites, to ensure garden service work is carried out on time, efficiently and ensuring quality of work is carried out on time all the time, as well as supervising staff pertaining to their duties. The Driver-Supervisor takes instructions from the office, plans, directs, coordinates and controls activities of workers engaged in gardening.


SALARY from

Duties for Gardening Supervisor
Maintain and adheres effectively to the job scheduling system of the day.

Is responsible for the safety of fellow employees while in possession of the vehicle on the road.

Drives staff units to and from sites,

Ensures maximum safety standards are always maintained on the road while in possession of the staff vehicle.

Reports on vehicle repairs and maintenance related requirements immediately


Ensure effectiveness and efficiency of scheduled jobs considering:
i. Minimum daily income per crew requirement

ii. Employee availability, productivity and supervision

iii. Customer requested job frequency

iv. Location and travel times to jobs

v. Minimising non-productive (down) time

Ensure all equipment is maintained regularly to provide safe and optimal performance and in line

with manufacturer's requirements

Assist with the preparation of quotes as required.

Maintain knowledge of and ability to perform each task.

Review work methods and systems for improved productivity, quality and profitability

Regularly check the quality of work being done by employees

Maintain required parts levels and ensure that stock is ordered and received as required.

Ensure all work is completed to meet customer requirements and within the allocated time frame.

Keep records of incoming and outgoing spares, fuel and other ancillary sundries.

Support and assist employees to achieve productivity targets.

Refer issues regarding employees to Management staff as required.

Model appropriate work behaviour

Ensure rigorous and very high standards of gardening services is always applied throughout the worksite,

Supervise staff and always supports employees, especially while working alongside.

Maintain awareness and knowledge of individual abilities.

Allocate tasks according to individual abilities and production requirements.

Ensure that employees maintain skills learnt by regular task rotation.

Appraise performance.

Reward and disciple employees

Address complaints and resolve problems.


Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Knowledge of garden service and grass cutting geometrics.
• Code 8,10,14 valid driver's license with PDP.
• Garden Service experience preferred.
• Ability to work with garden service machinery such as Brush cutters and Lawnmowers.
• Employee supervision

Other Requirements

• Must be able to communicate in English (orally and written form)
• Must be able to read and write.
• Must be with sober habits.
• Must be able to work overtime as and when needed.
• Must reside in Mthatha and have knowledge of the areas (suburbs)
• Must be able work with and manage more than 3 teams at various sites at a time.
• Must have proven experience in supervising more than 10 employees in one shift.

Salary:
R4, R6,000.00 per month
