ABOUT THE POSITION
The Systems Administrator is responsible to maintain, upgrade and manage our software, hardware and networks within the business.


Key responsibilities inter alia include the following:

  • Configuring hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Regular security monitoring will be done in order to identify any possible intrusions
  • Installation of new and rebuilding of existing servers while maintaining installation and configuration procedures
  • Researching and recommending innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks
  • You will identify approaches that leverage the company's resources and provide economies of scale
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures and coordination and communication with impacted business units and escalate where necessary
  • Configure / add new services as necessary
  • Performing periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  • Maintenance of data centre environmental and monitoring of equipment
  • Performing ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
  • Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Installing and maintain firewall access rules and policies
  • Monitoring of communication links
  • Documentation of procedures and technical implementation
  • Change control

Role Requirements

  • Reliable internet connectivity is essential when working from home

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
  • Minimum 3 years' technical support experience
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN & WAN) and patch management
  • Good understanding of VOIP and associated Voice solutions
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data Backup / Recovery
  • Have a strong grasp of computer security (e.g. firewalls and intrusion detection systems
  • Familiar with various operating systems and platforms
  • 23 years' as a server administration
  • Experience in healthcare insurance, financial or administration industry & knowledge of relevant legislative environment is highly desirable

Education and Applicable Systems Experience

  • Grade 1
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification (Diploma or Degree)
  • MCP, MCSE
  • VMWare experience (Certification would be advantageous)
  • Veeam Experience (Certification would be advantageous)

Additional requirements that would be advantageous:

  • A+
  • N+
  • MCSA
  • SQL Administration
  • VMWARE &VEEAM Experience (Certification would be advantageous)
years' Server Administration

  • ITIL Foundations
  • Cyber security certifications or experience

License/Certification:

  • MCSE/MCP (preferred)
