    Senior Maintenance Engineer

    Location

    CPC/Fairbreeze Mine, South Africa, KZN

    Position Overview

    We are seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer to ensure machines and equipment in designated areas are maintained toward meeting targets.

    The selected candidate will be accountable for supervision of electrical, mechanical maintenance work, and statutory compliance.

    Additionally, they will oversee civil and facilities maintenance work and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

    The role requires ensuring compliance to the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and regulations.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Developing maintenance budgets, monitoring and controlling maintenance costs to identify opportunities for improvement
    • Creating maintenance procedures, methods, and testing protocols
    • Providing technical support for repair methods for installed equipment and rotables, including diagnosing faults and repairing equipment
    • Supporting craftsmen performing difficult or major maintenance work and responding to critical equipment faults
    • Troubleshooting equipment breakdowns and inspecting critical jobs to verify correct execution
    • Partnering with the Maintenance Coordinator to enhance quality and efficiency
    • Delivering skill-based training to craftsmen on specific equipment in the plant and general areas
    • Acting as a relief for other leaders in the Maintenance Organization
    • Performing engineering design calculations as needed
    • Supporting the rotables team by defining repair scopes and developing procedures
    • Managing replacement or small-to-medium execution improvement projects
    • Identifying improvement opportunities with Maintenance teams and driving projects to completion
    • Assisting in responses for emergencies, unplanned problems, and repairs strategy
    • Drafting and reviewing Codes of Practice
    • Ensuring successful application of quality management systems
    • Implementing discipline strategy and managed operational plans
    • Maintaining networks and sourcing new technology and innovation

    Compliance, Governance, and Assurance

    • Adhering to set standards and aligning with Tronox standards
    • Ensuring compliance with governance, legal, and other requirements
    • Preparing and analyzing reports
    • Affirming SHEC compliance and monitoring threats and risks
    • Ensuring adherence to MHSA and Regulations

    Projects and CI

    • Implementing and maintaining document control systems
    • Identifying enhancements and improvements
    • Minimizing non-conformances and implementing quality assurance measures
    • Preparing reports

    Safe and Healthy Work Environment

    • Ensuring a healthy environment, safe operations, and practices
    • Complying with SHEQ and technical requirements in line with Plant/Mine availability targets
    • Maintaining a defect-free and sub-standard equipment performance, and identifying other improvement opportunities

    Qualifications & Experience

    • BEng Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; or BTECH Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Mandatory)
    • Grade 12/Standard 10/N3 with Mathematics and Science (Mandatory)
    • GCC (Mines - Electrical or Mechanical) (Mandatory)
    • Driver's License (Mandatory)
    • Maintenance, Planning, and Development experience within a heavy industry/production/mining environment (Mandatory)
    • Computer Literacy (Recommended) 3-5 years
