Electrical Control and Automation Lead Engineer to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) in Johannesburg.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Preparation and review of all engineering documentation within discipline including, but not limited to, the following documents, lists, calculations and detail drawings; Instrumentation and Controls Design Criteria, Control Philosophy and conceptual design of industrial control systems, functional specifications, instrument index, I/O lists, instrumentation calculations, data sheets, specifications, selection and sizing, P&ID's, system architecture drawings, instrument location drawings, installation detail drawings, wiring and interconnection diagrams, ISA loop drawings, motor control schematics.
  • Compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all engineering activates.
  • Collaboration with project management/engineering staff to achieve project objectives.
  • Conducting work in accordance with company safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Participation in regular project meetings and assessment of ongoing project needs.
  • Checking and verifying construction drawings, vendor drawings, material requisitions and approval of bid tabulations and field checkout.
  • Perform field surveys, when necessary.
  • Provide construction support, commissioning and startup assistance as required

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering with a strong interest in industrial process control, automation and computer systems
  • Experience with fieldbus technologies, networking and hardware.
  • Experience in commissioning industrial automation projects.
  • Demonstrated strong troubleshooting, analytical, technical problemsolving skills
  • High attention to details, motivation and commitment to quality and customer service
  • Ability to operate effectively and work under pressure in a fastpaced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and quickly comprehend new concepts and technologies
  • Understanding of all aspects of software development and implementation
  • Willing to work outside of normal business hours and to travel to site as and when required
  • Knowledge of Windows & Basic Networking
  • Knowledge of Databases advantageous

Experience

  • 10 + years' experience working in PLC programming and SCADA development.
  • Allen Bradley PLC and SCADA software experience essential.
  • Experience with digital communications and fieldbus technologies, networking and hardware

Desirable

  • Experience with Wonderware Archestra.
  • Experience with engineering tools such as SmartPlant Instrumentation (InTools, Intergraph), Plantspace P&ID (Intelligent P&ID's, Bentley, Microstation), 3D modeling (Bentley), and Relational Databases (administration & coordination).
