    Description

    Key Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will have experience in a commercial or technical environment and be responsible for managing the service department.

    This includes maximising departmental profitability, controlling resources, and ensuring excellent customer service.

    • Control resources to meet profit requirements and enhance customer relations.
    • Maximise departmental profitability through sales of labour and associated products.
    • Manage staff, including supervision, performance management, discipline, and other related functions.
    • Monitor and control accounts, operating controls, and composite figures to ensure budget objectives are met.
    • Evaluate efficiency of the Service Department by analysing labour utilisation, productivity, and sales.
    • Maintain effective control of expenses by examining management accounts and adhering to budgeted expenditure.

    Requirements

    • Matric certificate is mandatory.
    • Diesel technician qualification is essential.
    • A relevant post-matric management qualification is advantageous.
    • At least 10 years' experience in the technical commercial vehicle industry is required.
    • At least 5 years' workshop management experience in the commercial vehicle industry is necessary.
    • A valid, unendorsed driver's license and ability to drive competently are required.
    • Proficiency in computer literacy is essential.
    • Understanding of financial principles, including budgeting and forecasting, is necessary.
    • Familiarity with technology and systems used in the industry is essential.
    • Knowledge of Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety Acts is required.
