    Job Description

    As a strong candidate for the NGVAS Application Support team, you will be responsible for providing third-level support for multiple environments in a 24x7x365 operational environment.

    The role involves handling daily support tasks, participating in deployments, and troubleshooting in collaboration with the NGVAS development team.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    1. System Management and Configuration:
      1. Configure, maintain, and optimize Linux OS, networks, and applications for new and existing systems.
      2. Manage system security, capacity, and performance, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
      3. Assist with OS updates, patches, and application management.
    2. Support and Troubleshooting:
      1. Improve and automate support tasks to enhance operational efficiency.
      2. Update and manage Freshdesk support tickets, ensuring timely completion and closure.
      3. Perform Root Cause Analysis and create RCA documentation as required.
      4. Assist developers with troubleshooting and deployments.
    3. Monitoring and Maintenance:
      1. Set up and maintain monitoring systems to ensure proactive issue detection.
      2. Conduct preventative maintenance and continuously improve system performance.
    4. Collaboration and Reporting:
      1. Attend customer meetings with the Service Delivery Manager.
      2. Research and recommend innovative approaches to enhance system operations.
      3. Ensure all required documentation is completed and up to date.
    5. Team Development:
      1. Mentor and train junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
    6. Personal Qualities:
      1. Ability to handle a high-pressure environment and multi-task effectively.
      2. Strong leadership skills.
      3. Clear communication skills.
      4. A strong team player who can also work independently.
      5. Quick learner with the ability to work under pressure.
    7. Accountabilities:
      1. Ensure support tickets are completed accurately and on time.
      2. Prevent SLA breaches through diligent issue resolution and proactive support.
      3. Maintain and contribute to system standards and best practices.
      4. Log work hours daily and submit time logs as required.

    Requirements

    1. Tertiary Engineering or Computer Science degree.
    2. High degree of interest, experience, and certification in Linux.
    3. Shell scripting ability for system administration.
    4. Proficiency in Linux system administration (RedHat/CentOS, Apache/NGINX, MySQL/MariaDB/MongoDB, Bash, Python).
    5. Knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, SOAP, HTTP, XML, RADIUS, Diameter, SCTP).

    Preferred Experience and Skills:

    1. Exposure to telecommunications technologies (SS7, SIGTRAN, TCAP, MAP, CAP).
    2. Experience with load balancers, routers, firewalls, and proxy servers.
    3. Knowledge of big data/analytics/monitoring tools (Elastic, Grafana, Prometheus).
    4. Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies such as OpenStack, KVM, Xen, VMware, Docker, Kubernetes, Redis.
    5. Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Alertmanager, exporters).
