    Description

    Absa CIB legal is seeking a Project Finance Legal Counsel to identify and manage legal risk within CIB. The ideal candidate will assist in structuring, negotiating, drafting, and vetting legal agreements and documentation related to funding agreements, transactions, and new products.

    The role involves providing dedicated legal support, putting in place a working model to maximize synergies between teams and business areas. The successful candidate will have significant project finance legal experience, ideally with 3-5 years of Post Qualifying experience.

    The estimated salary for this role is R1,200,000 - R2,000,000 per annum, depending on experience.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist in structuring, negotiating, drafting, and vetting legal agreements (CTA and facilities agreement and project agreements) and documentation relating to funding agreements, transactions, and new products.
    • Help develop funding/lending structures and best practice guides for use within business.
    • Address all probable risks by ensuring they are sufficiently addressed in legal agreements drafted.
    • Provide legal advice on transactions or deals to be done, or transactions that have been concluded, waivers, transaction management.
    • Conduct legal due diligence on transactions (corporate authorizations, property, litigation, Authorizations, Licenses/permits), review lender technical and environmental due diligence, review insurance due diligence, review lender advisor engagement letters.
    • Provide advice on capacity, procurement process, legality, the lawfulness, and enforceability of agreements and documents.

    Requirements:

    • Admitted Attorney with significant Project Finance legal experience, ideally with 3-5 years' Post Qualifying experience.
    • Ability to advise at senior business level as well as an understanding of the banking business and product offerings.
