Ramsay Media T/A Habari Media is a media powerhouse, whose world-class titles connect brands to targeted audiences. We are currently seeking a Print and Digital Editor for our Getaway magazine.

  • Managing and planning digital editorial content
  • Brainstorm and produce various digital content that is fresh, relevant and ontrend
  • Assist with the management of Getaway's social media platforms (scheduling, writing captions and community management)
  • Keep up to date with digital trends in order to keep the digital content vibrant and engaging
  • Attend and digitally document events on behalf of the brand as needed
  • Approve and schedule commercial content
  • Write articles for the digital platforms when required
  • Drawing up magazine synopses that feature engaging and relevant travel articles
  • Managing client signoffs on the necessary pages
  • Writing briefs and commissioning features writers, both inhouse and freelance
  • Writing travel features and other content
  • Liaising with all relevant Habari departments, including copy editing, design, repro, sales and production
  • Proofreading features from text documents through to printready layouts, writing catchy headings, captions and intros and ensuring correct grammar,
style and tone

  • Managing the contributor's budget
  • Overseeing junior staff and interns

Requirements:


  • Proficient in WordPress and trending social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube)
  • Able to work accurately under deadline pressure
  • Have a clear understanding of the online news production environment, particularly in terms of how fast paced it is
  • Tertiary qualification in English, journalism, or media studies with a strong interest in the digital sphere, specifically social media
  • Experience in magazine publishing advantageous
  • An excellent writer and proofreader
  • Good client relation skills
  • A motivated and proactive individual with superb time management skills
  • A working knowledge of InDesign and Affinity
  • Able to interview and write unique content, aggregate, and edit copy
