Description
We are looking to hire an experienced tire assistant to work in our transport department.

As a tire assistant, you will be required to inspect and assess damaged or worn tires on trucks, replace or repair damaged tires, and rotate tires.

You will be required to go perform roadside assistance


Qualification Requirements:


  • Grade 12 with numerical ability
  • At least 12 years' experience in a similar position in the FMCG industry

Experience Requirements:


  • Valid code C1 license
  • Must have working knowledge of all tools used in the workshop
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proven work experience as a Tire Technician or similar role
  • Extensive knowledge of tire patterns.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to work in a crouched or standing position for extended periods.
  • Team player to work with other team members
  • Attention to detail to install tires properly

Key Outputs:


  • Talking to truck drivers about any tire issues they are experiencing.
  • Inspecting and assessing tire tread levels, wear patterns, valve quality, and overall health.
  • Recommending appropriate repair treatment or replacement of tires.
  • Repairing punctures and replacing faulty valves.
  • Installing new tires and perform tire rotations
  • Inspect tires on vehicles before and after installation
  • Conducting inventory counts and maintaining equipment.
  • Conducting roadside repairs.
  • Follow all safety protocols while working in the shop
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Ensuring that new stock received is allocated to the correct vehicle not later than 24 hours
  • Maintaining stock levels of spare tyres
  • Picking up stock from supplier when needed
  • Daily and weekly tyre surveys
  • Daily tyre pressures checked on all vehicles
  • Accurate recording of inspections
  • Communicating all findings to management
  • Branding of tyres before fitment
