    Description

    HV/MV Specialist Engineer, Data Center Engineering Operations

    The HV/MV Specialist Engineer is responsible for ensuring peak efficiency of high voltage and medium voltage electrical mechanical and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. This involves planned preventative maintenance daily corrective work and emergency response to emergent issues.

    As a subject matter expert on high voltage and medium voltage equipment reticulation and protection systems the engineer serves as a technical resource interacting with onsite Facility Managers Engineering Operations Technicians and third-party vendors.

    The engineer will manage large scale electrical impacting projects and new region support from conception to completion collaborating with external support groups including engineering automation procurement and finance in both local and global settings.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of medium and high voltage infrastructure
    2. Operate independently with limited direct management
    3. Assist in design and build out of new MV and HV facility infrastructure
    4. Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center region and work OT hours as needed to support site stability
    5. Perform root cause analysis of MV/HV equipment failures
    6. Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians Chief Engineers and vendor support teams
    7. Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and assisting in recruiting efforts for the same
    8. Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff
    9. Utilize internal Change Management Systems to manage building workflows
    10. MV/HV Isolation to facilitate MV/HV maintenance
    11. Provide metric availability reporting on a weekly basis
    12. Support all regions in the MEA region
    13. Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience

    Basic Qualifications

    • Electrical Engineering Qualification
    • HV and MV switching accreditation
    • Project management experience
    • Occupational Health and Safety accreditation & Legal Appointment eligibility

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Electrical Engineering Degree and a Project Management qualification or similar
    • HV and MV switching appointment Occupational Health and Safety certification
    • Government Certificate of Competency
    • GMR 2.1 Legal Appointment eligibility
