Our client is looking for a SHEQ Coordinator who will Implement & maintain a safety system to ensure the company's compliance to all relevant SHEQ legislation appropriate to operation management and client requirement


Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain a safety system in accordance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 Management System requirements.
  • Liaise with staff, clients and suppliers in all areas concerned with safety.
  • Assume responsibility for SHEQ management for all Service Business Unit activities.
  • Communicate with the various teams the SHE requirements needed to be implemented and maintained on the sites and by suppliers/subcontractors.
  • Ensure suppliers/subcontractors perform their tasks according to client HSE requirements and report all deviations to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Become au fait with client's SHE requirements and implement as necessary.
  • Implement and maintain the requirements of the Occupational Health & Safety Act 85 of 199
  • Ensure all reporting requirements that have been set out are done timeously.
  • Responsible for the SHE requirements of all buildings, grounds and security related to the allocated sites.
  • Ensure the deployment and implementation of the various Group HSE initiatives and programs.
  • Ensure the SHEQ System is implemented by all levels of staff and that any deficiencies identified are reported to ensure continued effectiveness of the Safety at offices, project sites as well as manufacturing facilities.
  • Identify and correct any deficiencies in the SHEQ System and monitor its effectiveness in the light of changing technologies and to regulation changes.
  • Ensure that the Occupational Health & Safety Act 85 of 1993 and all relevant Regulations are adhered to.
  • Control all aspects of the SHEQ Management System.
  • Assist in the drafting of all, Safe work Procedures and Work Instructions that comply with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standard requirements.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the SHEQ System Manuals and Documentation control system.
  • Provide SHEQ awareness training to all staff.
  • Assist Service Team members in resolving SHEQ nonconformances and disputes.
  • Prepare Safety statistics and reports at required intervals.
  • Plan, schedule and execute monthly internal SHEQ audits and checks on contractors
  • Ensure that suppliers and subcontractors adhere to all safety requirements.
  • Ensure the maintenance and upgrading of the Health, Environment and Safety Standards.
  • Review and evaluate safety performance (Internal, site and Suppliers) through site inspections and audits and initiate corrective action where required.
  • Plan, schedule and manage all medical and health monitoring requirements for project and workshop team members.
  • Plan, schedule and chair and all safety meetings.
  • Coordinate investigations into accidents or incidents that have occurred on site.
  • Ensure that adequate firefighting and first aid equipment is available and personnel are trained and coordinate fire and emergency drills.
  • Ensure SHE representatives are performing their required functions.
  • Participate actively in meetings with the main objective of improving the Company's effectiveness, service and profitability by maintaining the highest possible safety standards.
  • Communicate the company vision and channel people's energies towards the achievement of that vision.
  • Maintain Safety Precautions and sound housekeeping principles and due care of all equipment/assets under your control.
  • Evaluate and facilitate training requirements to ensure legal compliance
  • Prepare and conduct SHEQ Induction Presentations for all employees, visitors and contractors.
  • On call 24 hours to respond to any incidents or accidents.
  • Perform any other duties required by your designated manager.

Qualifications:


  • Degree or Diploma/ B. Tech in Safety Management essential.
  • 5 years' experience in a similar environment
  • 5 years ISO Management System experience advantageous
  • Experience in a workshop environment
