    Description

    Senior Java Developer (Technical Specialist)

    We are seeking a skilled Senior Java Developer to join our development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality software that meets business requirements, as well as assisting with the deployment and monitoring of developed systems in various environments.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide recommendations and cost estimates for implementing changes.
    • Maintain existing systems according to change requests.
    • Develop software programs that satisfy specifications.
    • Test own programs and artefacts to ensure correctness.
    • Debug programs.
    • Deliver:
      • Test information to Testers
      • Progress updates to the project manager or team lead.
      • Recommendations and cost estimates for implementing changes.
      • Support and standby services (if required).
    • Assist with implementing changes into the production environment.
    • Document changes implemented and programs.
    • Solve problems, perform root cause analysis, and provide user assistance.
    • Provide technical support and assistance to others on own programs or systems.
    • Mentor junior team members.
    • Evaluate the quality of junior team members' code.
    • Conduct system application and performance benchmarking.
    • Implement updates and releases of third-party software packages.
    • Execute disaster recovery processes.

    Requirements

    Qualifications
    • Grade 12 certificate
    • A relevant IT degree or diploma is highly recommended.
    Experience
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in application development.
    • System Analysis (advantageous)
    • Experience with web services (SOAP/XML) and (REST/JSON)
    Skills
    • JEE application servers
    • Development tools
    • JEE application frameworks
    • IBM AIX or Unix skills
    • Database skills and SQL knowledge
    Knowledge
    • SDLC methodology
    • Problem-solving techniques
    • Documentation frameworks, tools, and standards
    • Project management principles
    • Deployment process in the development phase
    • Financial product knowledge (advantageous)
    • Identity and Access Management systems knowledge (advantageous)

    The estimated salary for this position is R1,200,000 - R1,500,000 per annum, depending on experience.
