    Duties & Responsibilities

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
    This position forms part of the ITC Operations & Infrastructure group and focuses on the planning, implementing, and deployment of IT systems.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Technical Specialism: Maintains an in-depth knowledge of specific technical specialisms and provides expert advice regarding their application. Can supervise specialist technical consultancy.
    2. Emerging Technology Monitoring: Monitors the market to gain knowledge and understanding of currently emerging technologies. Identifies new and emerging hardware and software technologies and products based on own area of expertise.
    3. Project Management: Takes full responsibility for the definition, documentation, and satisfactory completion of medium-scale projects. Identifies, assesses, and manages risks to the success of the project.
    4. Systems Installation/Decommissioning: Takes responsibility for installation projects, providing effective team leadership and ensuring information flow to and from the customer during project work.
    5. Capacity Management: Drafts and maintains policy, standards, and procedures for service component capacity management.
    6. Service Level Management (SLMO): Ensures that service delivery meets agreed service levels and diagnoses service delivery problems.
    7. Configuration Management: Manages configuration items (CIs) and related information.
    8. System Software: Evaluates new system software, reviews updates, and ensures that operational documentation for system software is fit for purpose.
    9. Applications Support: Maintains application support processes and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures.
    10. Database Administration: Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for databases.
    11. Supplier Relationship Management: Maintains a broad understanding of the commercial IT environment and manages contracts with suppliers.

    Desired Experience & Qualification

    · A 4-year bachelor's degree or an honours degree (NQF level 8) in Information Technology or bachelor's degree/advanced diploma (NQF level 7) in Information Technology with relevant IT certifications.
    · A minimum of 6 years' experience in Systems Project Management.
    · A minimum of 6 years' experience working in an enterprise IT environment.

    The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
