• Steelco, a leading player in the Pietermaritzburg market, is looking for a dynamic, organised, and efficient Assistant Stores & Warehouse Manager to oversee and support the logistics of a substantial steel operation.

Reporting to the Warehouse and Logistics Manager, you will oversee and assist the logistics & warehouse teams, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional customer service.

Your responsibilities will include supervising the receiving functions, managing stock, and leveraging your deep understanding of the steel industry to optimise processes.

• In-depth knowledge of the steel industry, steel products and logistics in steel (3 years min).
• Supervisory skills.
• Proven track record of success in the industry with traceable references.
• Excellent communication skills. Zulu speaking is a bonus

• Allocate deliveries to specific areas in preparation for loading.
• Manage the flow of paperwork between the sales office and the stores.
• Oversee the timeous loading of vehicles in accordance with set paperwork.
• Ensure crane operators carry out their duties to the highest standard.
• Communicate with drivers regarding deliveries.
• Monitor vehicles using tracker app.
• Attend to queries regarding deliveries.
• Oversee housekeeping and ensure material is stored in correct departments.
• Assist customers in stores & uphold a high level of customer service.
• Ensure stock is handled correctly to ensure mínimal damages.
• Supervise staff and allocate duties accordingly.
• Carry out stock counts when necessary.
• Delivery of material to site if needed.
• Operate crane if required.
• Report issues and relevant problems to management.
