  • The Sourcing Category manager role is to provide leadership in strategic global sourcing to deliver the fintech roadmap. By working with cross functional teams, you will be influencing, negotiating, building consensus and making key strategic vendor decisions across all layers of the organization. You will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing sourcing category strategies and formulate procurement plans to facilitate achievement the M-Pesa roadmap.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Team leadership and stakeholder management across various teams in the organisation.
  • Serve as lead negotiator in tandem with our Business Units, Legal, Policy, and Tax teams to execute supplier contracts.
  • Manage sourcing activities. This includes a definition of user requirements, analysing spending, supply market analysis, contract analysis, and bid to ensure a seamless and timely tendering process.
  • Establish group partnerships to deepen value creation across the markets by building and maintaining effective relationships with suppliers.
  • Accountable for socializing supplier strategy with senior business decisionmakers by aligning the overall M-Pesa value proposition with that of the suppliers to ensure an increase in M-Pesa's share of value.
  • Align business functions priorities with supplier strategy and compliment by building proactive procurement plans that fully consider short
- and long-term goals to facilitate the business functions meet their revenue targets.

  • Lead supplier performance and roadmap reviews along with business functions to shape the supplier plans that are competitive

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Procurement or Engineering, Economics or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in working in a telecommunication service provider/Fintech organisation in emerging markets.

Required Knowledge/Skills:


  • Team leadership skills.
  • Experience in negotiating complex agreements within a telecommunication/fintech space.
  • Knowledge of stakeholder's management
  • Creative approach to solving unclear multistakeholder challenges.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, solve complex problems and scale effectively across a highly distributed organisation.
  • Acute attention to detail with a high level of data integrity and accuracy.
  • Strong oral and written communication with the ability to provide clear and concise information and/or instructions to end users.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.
