Our Client currently has 6 luxury 5* safari camps in wilderness areas in Botswana. They are looking to open at least 2 new lodges in the next 12-18 months.

They are looking for an Operations Managers to oversee standards and operations at their various camps.

You will be responsible for the entire value chain, all of which culminates into the ultimate goal of superior guest experience and satisfaction.

The Operations Manager manages the daily operations of the camps, ensuring all the staff understand and complete their daily duties whilst maintaining a flexible and enjoyable working environment and, above all, ensuring all guests receive "an authentic African experience".

The role is not purely guest facing and requires a business mind to ensure that standards are upheld and that guest satisfaction is successfully delivered but done efficiently, safely and at a reasonable cost and with mínimal wastage.

The Manager is accountable for all budgeting and cost including food and beverage, guides, maintenance, housekeeping, prepares and manages annual budgets and is responsible for procurement of all assets and supplies for their specific camp.

Based on the above your daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily, weekly and monthly task scheduling
  • Guest interaction
  • Ensure high level of communication with Camp Managers and head office
  • Ensure all guest requirements are being carried out accordingly
  • Maintaining and updating of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Maintaining and growing relationships with other stakeholders in the area
  • Ensuring policies and procedures are be adhered to at all times
  • Draw up a projects lists with time lines in accordance with budgets
  • Daily, weekly and monthly management reports are submitted timeously
  • Ensure the camp works towards the company's values and mission
  • Maintenance and protection of company assets
  • Maintain a high level of safety for both guests and staff
  • Staff recruitment, development and training
  • Any other duties that management delegates to you

About you

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in hospitality with Safari experience advantageous
  • You are happy to travel extensively to the various lodges, and spend time away from home
  • You are passionate about wildlife, safari and conservation
  • Proven track record in asset management, budget management and cost control
  • You exhibit the qualities mentioned above
  • You enjoy a fastpaced environment and have a 'Cando' attitude
  • You are driven and enjoy working in a team
