    We are looking for a Production Geologist to develop, compile and interpret geological maps and cross sections and accurately predict and identify further adverse geological conditions and reporting thereof through monthly forecast parameters.

    Reporting to the Superintendent: Resource Modelling and working in a challenging and exciting environment within Mining and Planning, you will:

  • Develop, compile, and interpret geological maps and cross sections relevant to supplementary mining operations at all plants and in conjunction with the Planning Officer ensure that operational plans are devised to guarantee no environmental incidents are possible.
  • Check mining pond grade control – Review plans and geological sections for the area to be mined. Check that what is planned in terms of area, mining limits, pond elevations and mining bases are feasible and accurate.
  • Assist the Planning Officer to coordinate action plans for increasing dredge throughput during periods of hard and difficult mining conditions and predict and identify future adverse geological conditions.
  • Prepare information by collecting and logging samples, estimating mining base grade, controlling sample quality, and ensuring processing by the Lab and monitor the inputs and outputs of the laboratory information management system.
  • Provide service to mining operation on mining conditions and the ore body and ensure that operations are familiar with the mining base so that they can adapt their processes accordingly.
  • Develop long- and cross sections to assist with interpretation of information and establishment of geographical trends on the mining base.
  • Compilation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • What you'll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team BsC Geology (Honours advantageous) / Higher National Diploma / B Tech Geology (Attach a valid certificate)
  • South African Driver's License (Attach a valid License)
  • Minimum 2 years' appropriate experience in the field of Geology.
