DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Management

  • Guide, instruct and monitor Seed division staff to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and processes.
  • Monitor work attendance and productivity of the team.
  • Lead and support department and employee performance improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate timelines; job expectations and allocate daily duties to the bulk seed team.

Operations Supervision

  • Monitor the dispatch of plug seed to ensure the accurate pulling, sorting, labelling and issuing of seed accurately and timeously as per Plug Job Card.
  • Ensure that batch codes for plug seed are correctly assigned.

Seed Quality Control

  • Manage; monitor and implement all necessary seed quality control measures.
  • Monitor storage conditions of seed.
  • Attend to and timeously resolve seed quality queries from customers; sales representatives and young plants division.
  • Analyse and evaluate seed quality test results on germination, vigor and viability.

Procurement and Supply Chain

  • Procurement and inventory control for consumables.
  • Liaise with service providers and the Department of Agriculture.

Inventory control

  • Receive incoming bulk seed stock.
  • Report on seed quantity discrepancies.
  • Conduct cycle counts and general stock taking.
  • Execute system stock adjustments and retail warehouse transfers.
  • Monitor and track seed expiration dates and initiate seed dumping process.

General administration and reporting

  • Complete weekly and monthly reports on time.
  • Maintain uptodate and accurate bulk seed stock records.

Occupational Health and Safety

  • Ensuring the reduction of work related accidents by monitoring staff compliance to health and safety policies and protocols.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications and Experience_

  • Grade 1
  • Post matric qualification in agriculture; horticulture or seed research and processing.
  • Previous experience within the horticultural/agricultural field would be an advantage.
  • Atleast two (2) years' experience in a supervisory / team leadership role.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office package.
  • Pedantic individual with strong analytical, problemsolving and organizational skills.
  • Strong supervisory and team management skills.
  • Inventory and stock control skills.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and data entry skills.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detailed oriented with excellent time management skills, including the ability to multitask and prioritize expectations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative in developing solutions to problems independently and making recommendations to assist with their resolution.
  • Build trusting and collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders.

From R15,000.00 per month
