    Chief of Staff Role Summary

    This is a unique opportunity to join M-KOPA as a Chief of Staff and support the CEO in driving digital and financial inclusion across our markets. You will be responsible for providing strategic advice, managing special projects, and nurturing key relationships with stakeholders.

    About M-KOPA

    M-KOPA offers financing for everyday essentials to everyone. We provide 'Every Day Earners' across Africa with initial loans for smartphones, designed around their earning patterns. Our AI – Machine Learning model builds individualised credit histories, allowing us to finance additional digital and financial products like digital loans, health insurance, and data bundles through our mobile app.

    We operate in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa, with over $1 billion in credit provided to 5 million customers. M-KOPA was named one of the FT's Fastest Growing Companies in Africa three years in a row and one of TIME Magazine's Most Innovative Companies in the world in 2024 and 2023.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Acting as a thought partner, strategic advisor, and confidant to the CEO and leadership team.
    • Facilitating effective strategy meetings and working hand-in-hand with the leadership team to develop and prioritise the company's strategic plans and initiatives.
    • Championing the company's vision and strategy, creating the culture and momentum to deliver agreed goals, and spearheading special projects.

    Requirements

    • Passionate about making financing for everyday essentials accessible to everyone.
    • +/-5 years work experience, preferably including 2 years management consulting experience.
    • Prior exposure to senior management and Board of Directors.
    • Experience working in Africa.
    • A strategic outlook and ability to refine, communicate, and execute business strategy.
