    About the Role

    We seek a skilled and motivated trader to join our client in the Cape Town region. The ideal candidate will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, driven by a strong fundamental knowledge of the commodity market, a proven track record of profitability, and established industry connections.

    Key Requirements

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
    • Experience: Minimum 5 years in coal trading, with a proven track record of managing profitable trading portfolios and extensive industry networks.

    Main Responsibilities

    1. Division Growth and Development: Establish and manage a profitable division or expansion, driving business growth through strategic planning and execution.
    2. Budget Management: Create an annual income budget detailing expected volumes, counterparties, margins, and indicative cash flow to meet targets.
    3. Market Awareness: Stay updated on local and international market trends, analyzing data to inform trading decisions.
    4. Transaction Management: Negotiate, finalize, and execute transactions according to the company's trade mandate, ensuring profitability and compliance.

    Desirable Skills and Attributes

    • In-depth knowledge of the physical market, including product specifics, price drivers, customers, suppliers, and logistics.
    • Strong analytical skills for interpreting market data and trends.
    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
    • High level of motivation, entrepreneurial spirit, and results-driven mindset.

    Estimated Salary Range: R500,000 - R1,000,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
