Description

The Buyer will be responsible for timeous procurement and delivery of materials and services including managing supplier relationships.

Duties and relationships

Conduct market research to identify suppliers and vendors in the mechanical machinery and construction industry.
Source and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish strategic partnerships.
Collaborate with the engineering and operations teams to understand equipment requirements and specifications.
Obtain and review price quotes and proposals from suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
Prepare and issue quotes and purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of equipment and materials.
Monitor supplier performance, addressing any issues or discrepancies to ensure adherence to quality and delivery standards.
Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, purchase orders, and vendor communications.
Continuously assess market trends, pricing, and supplier capabilities to optimize procurement strategies.
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to support projects and meet business objectives.
Understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable principles

Education/qualifications and experience

Matric (essential)
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, financial administration, engineering, or a related field will be highly advantageous
3+ years of experience in procurement, specifically in sourcing and purchasing mechanical machinery and equipment.
Proven track record in working in mechanical engineering and construction industry.

System

Proven track record of using Buildsmart software
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
