Description

Masedi Electric, a medium-sized electrical and instrumentation construction company, is seeking an experienced Estimator to lead the company's tendering and estimating functions.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in securing new business opportunities and contributing to the growth of the company through successful project awards. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates and tenders for projects by gathering information and analysing important metrics.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tender Opportunity Identification: Identify relevant tender/project tenders on online platforms and other sources, and thoroughly review tender documents to understand the scope of work and technical requirements.
2. Cost Estimation: Estimate the costs of all materials and equipment required for the project, including labour costs, overheads, and potential risks associated with the project.
3. Commercial Proposal Preparation: Develop a pricing strategy that ensures competitiveness while maintaining profitability, and ensure that all contractual terms are clearly defined and aligned with company policies.
4. Proposal/Tender Documentation and Submission: Prepare comprehensive proposal documents, including technical and commercial sections, and submit proposals to clients in a timely manner.
5. Post-Submission Activities: Engage with clients for any post-submission clarifications, presentations, or negotiations, and update proposals based on client feedback or changes in project scope.
6. Market and Competitor Analysis: Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, client needs, and technological advancements in Electrical and Instrumentation construction, and analyse competitor proposals and strategies to identify strengths and weaknesses.
7. Continuous Improvement: Continuously review and improve the proposal development process, seeking ways to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

1. Grade 12 qualification
2. Electrical and/or Instrumentation Trade Certificate
3. Experience in site/construction and project management of E&I projects
4. Proven experience as estimator (preferably three years or more in an E&I Construction environment)
5. Familiarity with financial and project management principles
6. Knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas
7. Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
8. Ability to track changes to the design/construction work and adjust the budget appropriately
9. Ability to monitor actual project performance and ensure that all parties perform in terms of the contract
10. Experience and knowledge of mining and industrial sectors
