The opportunity:

This role forms part of the Strategic Sourcing capability in the Non-Merchandise Procurement team.

As a Commodity Specialist, you will support the Category Manager in the ongoing engagement with relevant suppliers as well as keeping up to date with the market developments.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop proactive commodity strategies and advanced knowledge of TCO (Total cost of ownership)
  • Provide functional expertise and proven track record of implementation of the commodity strategy
  • Manage contractual risk and compliance within the relevant suppliers
  • Develop required reporting and attempt to continuously improve processes.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to obtain internal needs and requirements whilst driving research in market intelligence, demand intelligence, supply intelligence and value chain intelligence to inform stakeholders, and enhance commodity outcomes.
  • Provide functional expertise and guidance in tendering processes and selection of buying channels within the commodity itself.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to add value within the commodity space.
  • Drive and manage the procurement process to an agreed contractual solution with internal and external parties such as TFG business unit members, legal representatives, logistics, contracts and other supply chain members.
  • Own, manage and perform Supplier Performance Management activities to ensure consistent and highquality goods, services and engagements are managed within the category.
  • Run tenders on Coupa (company's procurement system)
  • Own the approval of new suppliers within the category/ commodity

Requirements:


  • A relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent will be an essential requirement. CIPS Qualification preferable.
  • Membership of relevant global and/or professional body, including accreditation, desirable.
  • 35 years' experience in a related field, preferably with indepth knowledge and execution experience of supplier lifecycle management & associated risks and/or procurement processes
  • 3 years relevant Retail, ecommerce or FMCG industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and simplification of complex requirements essential.
  • Experience of conducting supplier performance management preferable.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the codes of good practice
  • B-BBEE and evidence of commodity transformation.
