Based in Woodmead, Johannesburg, Seriti seeks to appoint a


SENIOR FINANCE OFFICER
The Finance Officer is responsible for maintaining Seriti Institute's financial records and the development of management accounts. In addition, the role includes ensuring compliance with statutory requirements within the Finance department.

Key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Adherence to Finance/ Operational /HR Policies and procedures
  • Drive a culture of compliance and zero tolerance for bribery and corruption
  • Live the Company Values of Work Ethic, Leadership, Accountability, Teamwork and Learning
  • Receive and capture documentation on ACCPAC/SAGE
  • Manage the petty cash, credit card, and travel claims and ensure these transactions are captured on the accounting system
  • Submit monthly reports on the transactions made on the ACCPAC system
  • Assist with the issuing of invoices as per every revenue item received by Seriti Institute
  • Balance Accounts Receivable to G/L Control Accountmonthly
  • Assist with Invoicing both on Excel and ACCPAC/SAGE
  • Process all payment reconciliations weekly, or as required
  • Produce monthly management accounts and donor reports
  • Assist with supporting documents during audits as required
  • Assist with asset verification for audit preparation
  • Assist in the preparation of the audit pack as requested by the auditors
  • Cashflow management
  • Alert the Finance Manager to key emerging risk areas
  • Make input to improve risk mitigation strategies

The Finance Officer must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in Financial Management/Accounting
  • A minimum of three years experience in community finance
  • Proficiency in SAGE accounting, ACCPAC, MS Office, Word, excellent Excel skills and PowerPoint
  • Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal. Must have some understanding of local languages
  • Proficiency in identifying and establishing strategic relationships with multiple and diverse stakeholders;
  • Advanced networking and influencing skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks relating to risk management and strategic importance
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in multiple teams across the organization and with various stakeholders
  • Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines; flexibility and adaptability to juggle a range of different tasks and to work extra hours to meet deadlines
  • High level of integrity, good organisational and time management skills; highly organized and flexible
