As one of the longest-established commercial food testing laboratories in SA, we provide a comprehensive product safety service to the food and beverage, cosmetic, hospitality and related industries throughout SA and the greater SADC region, from our various branches across the country.

By addressing needs such as microbiological and chemistry testing, auditing, consulting, problem-solving, training and more, they build long-term partnerships with their clients.

This position requires strong Managerial Skills to assess / analyse and Manage situations, plan and delegate operational matters to meet business needs, and ensure operational requirements are met.

Further, this position also requires strong Leadership skills with great interpersonal skills.

Minimum Requirements:

A formal Qualification (NDIP, BTECH or other) with a major in microbiology.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in Laboratory Management in a fast-paced commercial ISO 17025 accredited laboratory with high sample and test volumes.

Must have experience managing a team of analysts.
More than 8 years of technical / bench experience in an ISO 17025 Accredited Micro Laboratory.
Solid Leadership Skills.
Solid analytical abilities are key for this role.
Embraces a team culture and collaborates well with others.
Excellent communication skills are required.
Career Development skills are required.
Own transport is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Building, developing, and implementing a Departmental Strategy that is able to meet the company's strategic objectives.

Establishing and effectively implementing short-term and longer-term goals and management practices to meet or exceed the department's financial targets in revenue and profit.

Building, developing, and motivating a departmental team that can meet the company's Strategic objectives in terms of Financial Performance, Scientific Leadership, Customer Satisfaction and Quality Standards.

Driving and proactively controlling daily operations to ensure optimum productivity and client satisfaction.
Protecting and developing the image of the company in the marketplace; leading by example with passion and initiative.
Providing Leadership and Guidance to the Microbiology Laboratory Team.
Maintaining the Accreditation Status of the Laboratory
