Description

Responsible for the assigned process and material flow in a green sand, ductile iron foundry environment. Meets, exceeds production, safety and quality objectives.

Supervises employees and coordinates assigned process, material flow, employees, and equipment engaged in producing iron castings for the customer by performing the following duties.

Ensures quality and service of self and others. Manages workflow to accommodate volume and special project demands.

• Managing production schedules and studying estimates requirements per worker/equipment for completion of job assignment.
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Maintains production, efficiency, and employee records while ensuring the departments efficiency rates meet and exceeds expectations.
• Ensures that all equipment is in good, safe operating condition and is utilized according to process specifications.
• Address and correct quality deficiencies in a timely manner.
• Requests estimates, submits requisitions, and inspects materials.
• Consults with support services (quality/pattern shop) to ensure the production of quality castings and determine cause of casting defects and implement solutions.
• Ensure Workplace cleanliness and conduct minor preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Participates in supervisor training, develops supervisory skills through continuing education and mentoring employees to ensure strengthened capacity while communicating, supporting, and enforcing company policies.
• People management including role Interviews, performance management, conflict resolution, rewards & recognition, discipline and wellness.
• Works with relevant stakeholders to ensure that our corporate safety policy is fully and effectively implemented.
• Participates in safety activities such as support for Suggestion Boards, Grass Root team projects, 5S projects, department ergonomic improvements to ensure inputs are not wasteful and material tools are managed.

Work
Experience
& Skill requirement

• At least 5 years of Molten metal and moulding experience required.
• At least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role (can be within the 5 years)
• Process/technical knowledge in a green sand foundry required; ductile iron preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills essential; ability to successfully deal with change; learn new skills, techniques and processes, and a positive attitude required.
• Shift/schedule flexibility essential
• Full knowledge of Foundry workflow, materials management and Quality standards.
