    Payroll and Human Resource Specialist

    Fully remote role based in Durban. Company with software design and implementation requires skilled payroll implementation and consulting specialist.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Implement software at clients' premises.
    • Perform need analysis and setup payroll to meet statutory requirements including tax, UIF, and Basic Conditions of Employment Act for RSA and Africa Clients (Angola, Nigeria, Swaziland) and Middle East.
    • Consultations involve problem solving, best practices, statutory issues, supporting clients with payroll processes, and implementing modules.
    • Assist clients with Tax Year Ends and Mid-year Tax Year Recon involving E@syfile and SARS E-filing.
    • Invoice clients.
    • Compile consulting reports signed off by clients.
    • Manage own schedule.
    • Meet monthly targets based on consulting, training, and support hours.
    • Provide on-site training at client's premises.
    • Offer telephone support including gathering information, assessing problems, and performing backup investigation.
    • Log calls on Call Logging System (CRM).
    • Present Training Courses.
    • Stay up-to-date with all statutory changes.
    • Establish a network with SAGE Payroll users in the industry.
    • Support upgrades and legal patches.
    • Handle ongoing client queries.
    • Test reported problems/queries for clients.

    Human Resource Responsibilities:

    Maintain Human Resource procedures throughout the coastal region of South Africa focusing on the following aspects:

    • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures.
    • Prepare and maintain employee handbook and other department-related documents.
    • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
    • Perform benefits administration including change reporting, preparing invoices, and communicating benefit information to employees.
    • Conduct recruitment efforts for non-exempt personnel and temporary employees.
    • Monitor career pathing programs and write/place advertisements.
    • Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals.
    • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures for continual improvements.
    • Maintain human resource records and compile reports from databases.
    • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.

    Payroll Responsibilities:

    To ensure a clear audit trail for every transaction and data storage that can be easily retrieved:

    • Prepare and maintain personnel files for individual employees.
    • Ensure confidentiality of personal and payment records.
    • Process payrolls for financial year-end processing.
    • Provide timely action requests for transfer of long service leave entitlements.
    • Calculate redundancy and termination calculations.
    • Provide support and training in the payroll employee self-service application.
    • Process Workcover related wages and payments and track medical threshold limits.
    • Review and calculate timesheet data and hours worked.
    • Calculate salaries, wages, and overtime wage sheets.
    • Create and run salary sheets and reports.
    • Manage, maintain, and update payroll-related data.
    • Update salary sheets and schedules.
    • Answer and clarify employees on payroll-related inquiries.
    • Submit payroll reports and sheets on time to finance or other related departments.
    • Assist administrative or finance staff in processing payrolls of new hires or terminated ones.
    • Capture all client personnel transactions including New hire, Termination, Pensions, Provident & Retirement funds, Medical aids, Unions, Benefits deductions, and other relevant details.
    • Gross to net salary calculation, audit, and balancing.
    • Compile 3rd party and Vendor transactions including preparations and submissions of the monthly and weekly bank files, PAYE, UIF, and SDL payments to respective authorities.

    Requirements:

    Matric plus 5+ years of relevant experience.

    Degree/Diploma or relevant tertiary qualification in IT and/or Payroll Diploma.

    Certifications relating to the payroll industry are advantageous.

    Relevant experience in Service, Consulting, and Implementation is required.

    In-depth understanding of the customer services model and of the customers' business environment.

    In-depth knowledge of PeopleWare and Payroll.

    At least 3 years of experience in Payroll and advanced Excel.

    Good understanding of PeopleWare services in various industries.

    Package and Remuneration:

    R170 - R175 per hour.
